Exhibition «Migration – Voix de femmes»
They come from four continents. Their names are Anna, Maguy, Laura, Yllka, Zamila, Maryam, Helena, Sayanthini, Zaira, Thérèse. They were born in Prague, Ferrandina, Caracas, Kabul, Bukeye-Nyambo, Prishtina, Jaffna... They left their country and loved ones to escape poverty, persecution, war, and violence. In Switzerland, they have received hospitality that is sometimes distrustful, sometimes benevolent.
They have learned French and deciphered the Swiss social codes. They have often struggled to find work that matches their training. Here, they have found a safe space to live their lives as women, in freedom. Their trajectories embody the dramas, challenges, and successes linked to the two words "woman" and "migrant".
Ten life stories, revealed by the texts of Nicole von Kaenel and illustrated with magnificent portraits by Sarah Carp, which will also allow you to discover more about the historical and economic situation of the country left behind and the hosting conditions in Switzerland, through a demographic and sociological study.
